Bad Bunny declares ‘ICE out’ at Grammys

Several artists don 'ICE Out' pins at Grammys

Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny, who is scheduled to performed at the Super Bowl next Sunday, called out the U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement agency Sunday night at the Grammys.

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say: ICE out,” Bad Bunny said during his acceptance speech, garnering raucous applause. “We are not savages; we are not animals; we are not aliens. We are Americans.”

Bad Bunny, 31, received the Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album for his album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which translates roughly.

Bad Bunny, whose given name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, wasn’t the only winner to condemn ICE at the 2026 Grammys. Several artists wore white “ICE OUT” pins with black lettering at the Grammys.

Kehlani, who was honored at the Grammys for Best R&B Performance, called for artists to used their collective voices.

Growing chorus

“I hope everybody is inspired to come together as a community of artists and speak out against what’s going on,” said Kehlani, who was honored for “Folded.”

She then capped her acceptance speech with, “(expletive) ICE.”

Bad Bunny is arguably the most popular Latin American artist at this time. Although his songs are mostly in Spanish, he will perform at halftime of Super Bowl LX next Sunday at the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Proud Boricuas, Latinos

He’s the latest Puerto Rican star to speak out against ICE. Los Angeles Dodgers star Enrique “Kike” Hernandez spoke out against U.S. President Donald Trump’s ICE raids in Los Angeles last summer.

“I may not be Born & Raised, but this city adopted me as one of their own,” Hernandez wrote on Instagram in June. “I am saddened and infuriated by what’s happening in our country and our city. Los Angeles and Dodger fans have welcomed me, supported me and shown me nothing but kindness and love.

“This is my second home. And I cannot stand to see our community being violated, profiled, abused and ripped apart. ALL people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and human rights. #CityOfImmigrants.”

Bad Bunny closed out the Grammys by winning Album of the Year.

“Gracias, mami, por parir me en Puerto Rico,” Bad Bunny declared during his final acceptance speech. (Thank you, mami, for birthing me in Puerto Rico)
