‘Siuuuuuu!’ Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo makes World Cup history
Cristiano Ronaldo scores in sixth World Cup
HOUSTON – Siuuuuuuuu!
With legions of fans wearing his replica red No. 7 Portugal jersey and chanting his name often at Houston Stadium, Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a historic World Cup celebration Tuesday afternoon.
The legendary Ronaldo scored a Golazo in the sixth minute against Uzbekistan, becoming the first player in history to score in six FIFA Men’s World Cup tournaments.
Portugal’s Joao Cancelo broke free down the right wing, just outside the edge of the 18-yard box, about four yards away from the end line. Ronaldo was on an almost parallel run toward the near post. Cancelo then crossed the ball back toward Ronaldo, who got his hips around the ball and blasted a missile past Uzbekistan goalkeeper Abduvohid Nematov, setting the tone for a dominant 5-0 victory before a sellout crowd of 68,777.
Then Cristiano Ronaldo sprinted toward Portugal’s bench on the left side, approaching the sideline to celebrate with his teammates. After exchanging a few hugs, Ronaldo gave the sellout crowd what they wanted.
A celebration to remember
He lifted his right arm and made a whirling motion with his right index finger, building a buzz through the crowd. Then Ronaldo interlocked his fingers, lifted his arms, formed a triangle above his head and leaped while rotating counterclockwise before bringing his arms down and out quickly across his chest as he landed triumphantly with his legs spread out.

One day after Argentina’s Lionel Messi made history at Dallas Stadium by becoming the all-time leading goal scorer in Men’s World Cup history, Houston Stadium was the site of more history from the man who has rivaled Messi for the title of soccer’s greatest player of the last two decades.

Cristiano Ronaldo buried his second goal with a shot from the right side, just outside the corner of the six-yard box. He sent the ball across the mouth of the goal and just inside the far post in the 39th minute to give Portugal a 3-0 lead and set another record.
With his 10th World Cup goal, he passed the legendary Eusebio to become Portugal’s all-time leader in World Cup goals. Then he went toward the right corner flag. “Siuuuu!”
Shortly before halftime, the sellout crowd serenaded Ronaldo.
“Cris! Tia! No! Ro! Nal! Do!
“Cris! Tia! No! Ro! Nal! Do!
“Cris! Tia! No! Ro! Nal! Do!”
The crowd repeated the chant in the 75th minute with a comfortable 4-0 lead.
