Emily Favian brings BaseballGirly flair

Our Esquina has launched a new baseball show with podcast director Lorenzo Delgado, social media director Francisco Castro and dynamic content creator Emily Favian. The YouTube show celebrates baseball from a Latino lens.

Favian adds a fan’s perspective with the charismatic flair of a popular content creator. Delgado, a member of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, brings a baseball writer’s eye to the show. Castro, a diehard A’s fan, is an experienced social media director.

Favian graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Broadcast Production. She creates baseball-focused content for women on Instagram and TikTok, giving her take on breaking news, fashion and educational resources.

Favian, who is @baseballgirly713 on Instagram, went viral earlier this year after finding a replica of the Blue Astros jacket Tejano music legend Selena wore during her last concert at the Astrodome. That Selena reel garnered 1.5 million views.

The love of baseball oozes with chemistry to match from the co-hosts.

“I am very grateful to be a part of something that amplifies what I’ve always strived to do,” Favian said. “I grew up seeing very few women and even fewer Latinas in the sports world, so being able to have a space where I can show others it’s possible is very special.”

Picking top Latino sluggers

Delgado, Favian and Castro drafted their lineups with top Latino home run hitters in their first episode this week.

“I’m excited to welcome Emily, the famed Baseballgirly to Our Esquina,” said Our Esquina founder Jose de Jesus Ortiz. “She brings an important perspective as we continue our question to amplify Latino voices and stories.

“She knows baseball, and she’s tremendously charismatic and knowledgeable.”

A show dedicated to fans

Both Delgado and Castro had a vision for a baseball show that was dedicated to baseball fans across the world. They were convinced that baseball fans want to see more than just recaps or highlights of a baseball game.

The audience wants to see creativity that will bring exciting debates to their friends and families.

Social media is playing a big impact in today’s world with Instagram reels, TikTok, and YouTube shorts. In addition, former and current athletes are starting their own podcasts.

“I’m very excited to start this show with Emily and Francisco,” says Delgado. “Both are very creative in their own ways and pitch entertaining ideas that align perfectly for this show.

“We want to continue to engage baseball fans from a different lens.”
