The Astros Are Not Done Yet
Free agent first baseman Christian Walker is officially a Houston Astro. The Astros held a press conference Monday afternoon for Walker. One thing for sure is the three-time Gold Glove winner is excited to be in Houston.
Walker: “The word you hear a lot is culture.”
Walker, who signed a three-year, $60 million contract, answered questions in front of the Houston media for the first time since his signing. The 33-year-old first baseman answers questions about being reunited with Astros new third base coach Tony Perezchica, who coached Walker when he was in Arizona. Moreover, he was also asked about what attracted him to the Astros, did he talk to anyone on the team, and his thoughts on the short porch Crawford Boxes in left.
The Astros would like to add
Additionally, he alluded to his strong leadership skills and working with two-time World Series champion Jose Altuve. With the addition of Walker, Houston has had a stellar offseason and have met the needs they had going into the offseason. However, with Kyle Tucker being traded to the Chicago Cubs, the Astros have another hole to fill.
