Texans vs. Jaguars breakdown: The Controversy Unfolds
The Bring on The Blitz trio of Carlos Leon, Mauricio Rios, and Daniel “Papi” Cariel discuss the aftermath of the Texans’ 23-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The guys will delve into the areas of concern that have plagued the Texans since the beginning of the season.
Houston’s power offense
Houston showed improvements on the offensive side of the ball. The pass protection allowed quarterback C.J Stroud to complete 22 of 34 passing attempts for 242 yards, and a 22-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dalton Schultz. Wide receiver Nico Collins had a standout performance against the Jaguars with eight receptions for 119 yards, and his longest reception of 40 yards. Texans running back Joe Mixon did not stay far behind. Mixon rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown. His longest run of the game was for 30 yards. The 6-foot-1, 220 pounder has 205 carries for 887 yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games this season.
The Texans scored a second half touchdown!
The guys discuss the improvements the Texans offensive line made in order to make the stats happen. Houston was able to make second half adjustments. The offense scored two touchdowns in the second half for the first time since week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys.
In week 12 against the Tennessee Titans, the Texans lost safety Jalen Pitre to injury with a partially torn pectoral muscle. Pitre’s absence was felt at EverBank Stadium. Houston’s Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair had a controversial late hit on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The big hit led to a huge scuffle and caused Lawrence to leave the game with a head injury. Al-Shaair was ejected from the game, and is in the process of an NFL fine and a possible suspension. Was the tackle legal? Could Al-Shaair avoid Lawrence on the play?
Who will get their flowers ? Will the Texans’ offense keep scoring in the second half? Find out on episode 26!
