Texans vs. Chargers: An Electric Match up!

  • January 11, 2025

“Bring on the Blitz” duo of Carlos Leon and Mauricio Rios delve into the Texans’ Wild Card game against the Chargers. The Texans enter the playoff matchup with a 10-7 record.

A much needed victory

Houston is coming off a victory against the Titans, a game they needed to win to ignite a struggling offense. Quarterback C.J. Stroud completed six of six attempts for 50 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Nico Collins made five receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. After the first touchdown drive, most of the starters rested.

Carlos and Rios analyze how the Texans’ defense will match up against the Chargers. Houston’s defensive line had an impressive season and brought pressure to quarterbacks. Defensive end Will Anderson Jr. finished the regular season with 37 tackles (27 solo), 11 sacks, and one forced fumble. Defensive end Danielle Hunter ended the season with 46 tackles (31 solo), 12 sacks, and a forced fumble. Standout cornerback Derek Stingley finished the season with 54 tackles (37 solo) and five interceptions. The 2022 first-round pick was selected First Team All-Pro for the first time in his career.

Defense is key

In addition, the duo discusses how the Texans’ defense can keep them in the game against an electric Chargers offense. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert completed 28 of 36 attempts for 346 yards and two touchdowns against the Raiders to end the season. Carlos and Rios discuss key matchups against a standout Chargers defense.

Many questions surround this Texans’ team. For one, Can the Texans’ offense shine against the 11th ranked Chargers defense? How effective will the Texans’ defense pressure Justin Herbert and pull the plug on the Chargers offense? Can Derek Stingley Jr. and standout rookie Kamari Lassiter stop the duo of Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston? Can the Texans’ run defense contain J.K. Dobbins?
