Astros roster competition
On the latest episode of Full Seam Ahead, the boys make their updated predictions of the Astros 26-man roster. Houston has two position roster still yet to fill. Top-prospect Cam Smith, Zach Dezenzo, Brendan Rogers, and Cooper Hummel are all competing for final spots.
The young prospects Smith and Dezenzo have given the Astros much to think about. Both Cantu and Zo believe Smith has done well to earn a roster spot.
The bullpen is another position the 2022 AL West Champions have spots to fill. Josh Hader, Bryan Abreu, and Taylor Scott seem to have locked up the back end of the bullpen. However, a few Astros are competing for the remaining spots. The boys named a few candidates to fill the holes.
The Astros’ City Connect uniform is here. Many fans are raving about the new look. Houston will wear an all white uniform with the word ‘Stros etched on the front of the jersey. The jersey pays homage to Houston’s Space Station and their former uniforms.
They will wear the uniform every Monday home game.
Injury updates
The Astros have seen great progress from a few injured players. Lance McCullers, who hasn’t pitched since the 2022 World Series, threw one scoreless inning during a Spring Training exhibition. The Tampa, Fl., native threw 13 pitches producing two groundouts and a line out.
Christian Walker is also on track to be ready for Opening Day. Kaleb Ort, who will start the season on the IL list, threw a bullpen.
The 2022 World Series Champions also received bad news. Luis Garcia has been shut down from throwing after experiencing elbow soreness.
Houston will need a healthy pitching staff to return to their AL dominant form. With McCullers close to coming back, he can help the Astros have a solid rotation.
