Praising Mets, Tigers’ Javy Baez, debating first base addition
In the latest episode of Plákata Nation, Carlos Peña, Rodney Peña and Jesus Ortiz raved about the hot New York Mets, especially Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor.
The crew wondered if Alonso, Lindor or the Cubs’ Kyle Tucker are the favorites for National League Player of the Month for April. How much will Alonso and Tucker get on the free agent market next winter? The crew put in their guesses, and Tucker and Alonso will be happy.
After watching Padres All-Star Luis Arraez suffer a concussion in a collision at first with the Astros’ Mauricio Dubon, the Plakata Nation crew wondered if Major League Baseball should add an extra bag at first base for the runner.
The crew also cited the collision between the Blue Jays’ Alan Roden and big Mariners first baseman Rowdy Tellez. Considering Tellez’s size, the crew were grateful that Arraez’s collision was with the smaller Dubon instead of the Mariners’ big Mexican American first baseman.
Carlos Peña, a former All-Star, capped the show by discussing Javy Baez’s web gems at center field.
