Jalen Green had 26 points and four assists. The young Amen Thompson stuffed the stat sheet with a triple double. He had 23 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.

Rockets beat reigning champs

The Rockets also defended the NBA Champions Celtics. The marquee matchup Monday night lived up to the billing. Houston defeated Boston 114-112 with rising star Thompson hitting the game winner. With a quiet night for Houston’s starters Sengun and Green, Dillion Brooks erupted for a season best 36 points. Aside from hitting the game winning shot, Thompson contributed 33 points and 10 rebounds.

There was no rest for Houston when they faced the Atlanta Hawks on the road. After a sluggish first quarter the Rockets were able to regain a lead they never relinquished, winning 100-96. Houston’s top two tandem were key in the win. Green contributed 25 points and seven rebounds. Sengun had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
