
FSA: Astros Springs Training games recap
The Astros are finally playing Spring Training games. Zo and Cantu recap the early games this spring. Some young prospects are trending in the right directions and some veterans seem to be in mid-season form. The latest news sparked controversy by many fans as Houston has rekindled talks about Nolan Arenado.
Astros on Arenado
Per baseball beat writers Brian McTaggert, Mark Feinsand, and John Denton have said Houston and the Cardinals have reengaged in trade talks about the 10-time Gold Glove winner. However no deal is imminent as of yet. The boys give their thoughts on Arenado. Also they discuss if adding Arenado would make the 2022 World Series Champions a team better. Both Cantu and Zo agree yes, however tune in to hear their reasons why.
Spring Training games are in full swing, and many Astros players have shown glimpses of what they can do. Framber Valdez looked as his usual self. The left-handed sinker-baller pitched two no-hit innings. He only allowed a walk and induced four-ground ball outs. Spencer Arrighetti struggled with command in his first appearance. He pitched two innings allowing three walks and struck out two.
Young players shine
Yanier Diaz is 3-for-8 with a home run and two RBIs. Zach Dezenzo has impressed this spring, especially in the eyes of his manager Joe Espada, who stated Dezenzo has improved a lot. The second year player is 3-for-7 with two singles and two RBIs. Dezenzo is also making the transition to right field.
The boys also highlighted a few Astros’ prospects. All eyes were on Cam Smith, who was an important piece in the Houston trading Kyle Tucker to Chicago. Cam Smith has made an enormous first impression. The Astros top prospect is 2-for-2 with two walks and two home runs. He’s also played third base as well. Ryan Gusto pitched well, too. He pitched two innings and struck out two hitters. Logan Vanwey, who Espada named as a pitcher to watch, has pitched well, Brice Matthews has also seen action this spring.
New Astros Christian Walker hit a 400 feet double off the centerfield wall for his Astros hit. Isaac Paredes has demonstrated great plate discipline. The boys also mentioned a few injuries Houston players have suffered thus far. Tune in to another great episode of Full Seam Ahead.
