FSA: Astros Media Luncheon

The Astros Media Luncheon provided awesome new ballpark food that will hit the concessions by Opening Day. It also showcased the upcoming promotions that fans could look forward to, and released the Astros’ new slogan: Built for This. 

Most importantly the luncheon provided valuable information for the upcoming season. Cantu and Zo were present to taste test the new food items, but they also interviewed Astros general manager Dana Brown and manager Joe Espada.

Astros out on Bregman, Altuve in left

The boys discuss Dana Brown’s comments on Alex Bregman. He mentioned they lost Bregman and are solely having internal discussions about him at the moment.

At this point the boys believe Bregman is officially not coming back. They feel Houston has moved on and are ready to go to Spring Training with the current roster. 

Both Espada and Brown liked what they have seen from Altuve in left field. While Espada didn’t confirm how many games the 2017 MVP will play in left field, he did say Altuve will see action there to create defensive flexibility.

Houston traded away Kyle Tucker and Ryan Pressly this offseason. They are relying heavily on their young talent to fill the missing voids the two superstars left. Find out who Brown and Espada feel is the best chance to strengthen the bullpen and the outfield with video interviews featured on the podcast. 

However the Astros would still like depth. Especially a left-handed hitting outfielder. 

Billy Wagner No. 13 retired

The Astros also mentioned Hall of Famer Billy Wagner’s No. 13 will be retired. Wagner becomes the 10th Astro to have his number retired. He is the latest Astro to have his number retired. The most recent was Craig Biggio when he had his No. 7 retired in 2008. 

Wagner will be honored by Houston during Hall of Fame Weekend in September.
