FSA: Astros head to Spring Training
The Astros’ truck is packed and headed to West Palm Beach, Fla., where Houston will host Spring Training. Pitchers and catchers are set to report to CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches on Feb. 13. The rest of the roster will be there by Tuesday Feb. 18 when the Astros hold the first full-squad workout.
Astros’ Spring Training
Houston currently has 63 players on the preliminary Spring Training roster. 23 of them are non-roster invitees, which include top prospect Cam Smith, Jacob Melton, and Brice Matthrews. The three youngsters hope to make a lasting impression for their club.
Cantu and Zo understand that tough decisions will need to be made by the end of Spring Training. The boys make bold predictions of their Opening Day roster. They give their take on the starting rotation, infielders, bullpen and outfielders.
Moreover, with Ryan Pressly traded to the Cubs, there is a spot to fill in the bullpen. Josh Hader, Bryan Abreu, and Taylor Scott seem to fill the back end of the Astros’ bullpen. The boys discuss which players will fill in the rest of the spots.
Bold Predictions
Zo and Cantu talk about what they expect this Spring Training. Zo predicts an emphasis on defense, and Cantu expects Jose Altuve to play a lot of left field. The boys predict which player will take a leap forward in 2025. They also share which player they believe will turn many heads.
Alex Bregman is set to don a new uniform in 2025. It’s likely the Astros are out of the Bregman race. The boys give an update of the two-time All-Star. Per Buster Olney, the Red Sox, Cubs, and Tigers are still in contention to sign the 2022 World Series Champion.
Bregman eventually signed with the Red Sox. Find out the latest buzz on Around the horn. Tune in for another great episode of Full Seam Ahead.
