FSA: Astros equal Clutch City

  • April 6, 2025

At the verge of losing the series finale to the Minnesota Twins, The Astros storm back to take the three-game set. Cantu and Zo break down the two Astros’ wins in the series.

Astros’ Twin City comeback

It seemed like a sure loss for Houston after Astros’ starter Ronel Blanco failed to finish the second inning. He threw 62 pitches in 1.2 IP pitched. Houston was down 7-1 in the 4th, and with a struggling offense completed the comeback beating Minnesota 9-7.

The come from behind win was led by the Astros top of the order. All-Star Isaac Paredes had a four-hit game with two RBIs. Jose Altuve was 2-for-6 with two RBIs. Altuve also tagged on a hard line-drive from Jeremy Peña.

Christian Walker was 2-for-5. 2019 Rookie of the Year delivered the tying blow when he hit a two-run home run off relief pitcher Griffin Jax. The Las Tunas, Cuba native, finished with three RBIs.

With Blanco not pitching past the second inning, the Astros needed help from their bullpen. Venezuelan Luis Contreras pitched 2.1 innings to help Houston stay in the game. Contreras needed five pitches to escape the bases loaded jam he was placed in. Rafael Montero also pitched two innings.

Bryan King and Bryan Abreu pitched an inning. Josh Hader pitched two innings to secure the win.

Houston vs. Seattle

The Astros have faced elite pitching to start the season. The trend will continue when the 2022 World Series Champions travel to Seattle. Houston will face off against Logan Gilbert and Luis Castillo. However, Houston will counter with Hayden Wesenski, Framber Valdez, and Hunter Brown. Cantu breaks down the pitching match-ups. He gives what pitch mixes the Astros will see from the Mariners top two pitchers.

The boys give updates about Lance McCullers rehab start, and the AL West Standings. Tune in for another amazing episode of Full Seam Ahead.
