Offensive Coordinator search

The Texans are in the hunt for a new offensive coordinator after firing Bobby Slowik. They’ll analyze potential candidates that include quarterback coach Jerrod Johnson. Carlos, Rios, and Papi discuss Johnson’s familiarity with the team and the long-standing relationship with quarterback C.J. Stroud, who has known Stroud since high school. The Bring on the Blitz crew also discuss Johnson play calling style.

The Texans also interviewed Syracuse offensive coordinator and running back coach Jeff Nixon. Carlos analyses how Nixon’s productive offense at Syracuse helped elevate the team. Three receivers went over 900 receiving yards, including standout junior wide receiver Trebor Peña who ended the season with 84 catches for 941 yards and nine touchdowns. 

Texans draft pick decision

The trio discuss the Texans’ potential first and second-round draft picks. Rios highlights Penn State’s tight end Tyler Warren as a boost to the team’s offense. Papi discusses trading the first-round pick to acquire a veteran wide receiver. Carlos explores the possibility of drafting an interior lineman in the first round and analyzes the benefit of drafting Miami Hurricane standout Xavier Restrepo in the second round.
