  • January 26, 2025

The Texans outplayed against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium last Saturday. Houston’s offense recorded over 100 yards more than their counterpart. However, the Texans could not defeat Kansas City.

Offense at work

Quarterback C.J. Stroud completed 19 of 28 attempts and threw for 245 yards while running back Joe Mixon rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Nico Collins had five receptions for 81 yards. Kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn contributed six points, despite missing a field goal and an extra point attempt. The guys analyzed the Texans’ promising offensive plays identifying areas for improvement during the offseason.

Carlos Leon, Mauricio Rios, and special guest Mario Perez delve into the teams’ defensive performance against the Chiefs. Linebackers Henry To’oTo’o had seven tackles (one solo) and Azeez Al-Shaair had six tackles (two solo). Defensive end Will Anderson Jr. finished the game with four tackles and two sacks.

The trio go over how the Texans defense, although having some miscues, kept the Texans in the game against the two-time MVP and Super Bowl champion, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense.

The AFC South champions have a challenging offseason ahead, filled with difficult personnel decisions. The trio discussed potential offensive coordinator candidates for the team next season while examining key free-agents the Texans need to re-sign for the next season. Head coach DeMeco Ryans mentioned his approach for the offseason.

“As me and Nick Caserio approach the offseason, it doesn’t change.” Ryans said to the media. ”Every year we’re looking to improve our roster as best as you can to put out a winning team.”

Can Houston find a suitable coordinator that can elevate C.J Stroud and the Texans offense? Will the Texans defense continue to shine next season? What core players must the Texans prioritize retaining to achieve success next season?
