  • January 21, 2025

After 10 long years, The BBWAA members elected Billy Wagner into the MLB Hall of Fame. Wagner made the Hall of Fame on his 10th and final year of Hall of Fame eligibility.

Billy Wagner earned 325 votes

The Marion, Virginia native, received 325 of the 343 possible votes. He finished with 85.4% of the votes. Cantu and Zo talked about Wagner’s road to the Hall of Fame. They boys share their opinion on the The Kid.

Wagner pitched nine years with Houston. He then threw four years with the Mets and two with Philadelphia. Wagner also spent a year in Atlanta and Boston before an early retirement in 2010.

Zo takes a deep look into Wagner’s stats and compares them to Hall of Famers Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman. Wagner leads Hall of Fame relievers in K/9, Opponent BA., and H/9. The seven-time All-Star ranks second in ERA and WHIP. He has 422 saves which puts him fourth among Hall of Fame relief pitchers.

Ichiro and Sabathia also in HOF

Billy Wagner was not the only one elected into the Hall this year. Ichiro Suzuki and CC Sabathia were also elected . The Voting Committee also elected Dick Allen and Dave Parker. It was Ichiro and Sabathia’s first time on the HOF ballot.

Ichiro was one vote shy of being an unanimous decision. CC Sabathia received 86.8 percent of the Hall of Fame votes. The five new members in the Hall of Fame will be celebrated this summer. Carlos Beltran and Andruw Jones were a few votes shy of being elected.

Once the Hall of Fame talk is over, Cantu discusses the latest around baseball. Anthony Santander is not off the market. He agreed to a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto locked in the All-Star outfielder on a 5-year $93.5 million deal. Also a powerhouse team signed two relief pitchers.
