Astros “What Ifs” heading into the Winter Meetings

  • December 5, 2024

The 2024 MLB Winter Meetings are a few days away and the Astros are still in the chase for free agent Alex Bregman. However, what if the Astros aren’t able to sign the two-time All-Star? On the most recent Full Seam Ahead podcast, Lorenzo Delgado and Angel Cantu discuss the “what ifs” the Astros need to accomplish to compete for a World Series title.

Bregman or Adames

Houston will make a strong push to re-sign Alex Bregman in the upcoming weeks, but they have also discussed a back up plan if they cannot get a deal done. Former Brewer Willy Adames and veteran Jorge Polanco are also on the Astros rader. The boys voice their opinion on the rumors. They also discuss which move they believe makes sense for the Astros.

What If?

In the segment “What If,” Cantu and Zo give the additions the Astros must make to return to the World Series. While the boys both agreed that Bregman gives is a top priority some of the other additions might surprise you.

Cantu named a few pitchers who might be a diamond in the rough for Houston. He also mentions a few relief pitchers who can make an impact. Zo is adamant the Astros need some offensive power and named players who can provide help on offense.

In Around the Horn, Cantu mentions two more signings the Los Angeles Dodgers have made. They now owe more than $1 billion dollars in deferred money. The boys also say other signings around the league. Tune in to hear the latest from Full Seam Ahead.
