Astros Uncertain Future
After an eventful 2024 Winter Meetings, the Astros have an uncertain future. The Astros are still hopeful they can retain All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman. However, with Juan Soto and Willy Adams’ large contracts, the market for Bregman has completely increased.
Can the Astros retain Bregman?
Angel Cantu shared his percentage on Houston’s chances of resigning the 2024 Gold Glove winter. Astros fans beware because the percentage is not very high. Cantu believes Bregman will wear another uniform for the first time in his career, but like Jim Carrey said, there is a chance.
Houston’s open to trading Kyle Tucker and/or Framber Valdez
Enormous news coming from the Winter Meetings was that the Astros are listening to offers on All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker and Dominican southpaw Framber Valdez. Both Delgado and Cantu believe Tucker will be traded in the upcoming days. The Chicago Cubs appear to be the frontrunners, but the Yankees and Phillies have made a strong case as well. Should Houston trade away Tucker?
To satisfy pitching depth in the minor leagues, the Astros selected five players in the minor league phase of the Rule-5 draft. Houston chose three right-handed pitchers, one left-handed pitcher and a shortstop. Learn more about the players by tuning to this post Winter Meetings jam-packed episode of Full Seam Ahead.
