2024 American League West champions, Houston Astros
The Houston Astros have won the American League West for the seventh time in eight years. The Astros dynasty continues as Houston has clinched the third seed in the American League postseason. In a season filled with adversity, the guys from Full Seam Ahead break down the relentless nature of the 2022 World Series Champions.
Houston had high expectations to begin the season. However, injuries, an inconsistent offense, and a rookie manager seemed to end their tremendous run. Once 12 games below .500 and 10 games back in the AL West, the Astros accomplished the inevitable and won their division. Lorenzo Delgado and Angel Cantu shout out the Astros starting pitching. Framber Valdez, Hunter Brown, and Yusei Kikuchi have been instrumental to the Astros success. Those three starters are projected to be the starters for the American League Wild Card series. Also, the guys shoutout 15-year veteran Jason Heyward who single-handedly helped the Astros clinch by playing immaculate defense and blasting a two-run home run.
The players listed above also headline this week’s Carne Asada. In the short but informational pitching preview, Delgado announces the projected Astros starters for the Guardians series. This match up could potentially happen again in the playoffs. Yordan Alvarez suffered an unfortunate injury during the Angels series. He will not travel to Cleveland with the team. Instead, the 2019 Rookie of the Year will stay in Houston to be monitored by doctors. Zo and Cantu discuss Alvarez’ availability in the postseason. Tune in to another fresh episode to Full Seam Ahead to know all the latest Astros news.
