Guilherme outshines Chucky Lozano, leads Dynamo over Galaxy

Brazilian Guilherme scores 12th goal of the season
HOUSTON — After he slotted the ball into the back of the net, Houston Dynamo forward Guilherme broke into his signature samba, hips loose and shoulders rolling as teammates embraced him.
He dropped to his knees, lifted his gaze toward the stands, and bowed his head with both fingers pointed skyward. He then stood and stretched his arms wide, urging the Houston faithful to raise the noise at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday.
The MLS All‑Star scored his 12th goal of the season, delivering the 1–0 winner before a sellout crowd of 21,063.
With the victory over the Galaxy, the Dynamo secured their fourth straight clean‑sheet victory, placing Houston atop the Western Conference with 35 points.
Top offensive weapon
With a team-leading 12 goals and a team-leading seven assists, Guilherme has scored or assisted on 67.9% of Houston’s goals this season. No player in MLS has a higher percentage of goals created this season.
“He’s been amazing,” goalkeeper Jonathan Bond said of Guilherme. “He’s been one of the best players in the league. Should have been directly in All Star straightaway, honestly.
“His work rate is amazing, even off the ball, and he creates a lot of interceptions for us. He’s good in the air, and then he’s got amazing ability and skill, creating chances, scoring goals. He’s made a big difference for us.”

The breakthrough came in the 21st minute when Guilherme converted from the penalty spot. The penalty was earned after forward Lawrence Ennali was fouled in the box by Galaxy defender John Vincent.
On the day the Dynamo honored their stars from the 2005 MLS Cup champions, Guilherme and the strong defense helped send the crowd home happy.
Guilherme did not address the media. Neither did Mexican superstar Hirving Lozano, who drew a nice ovation from Dynamo fans.
Yellow for Chucky
The former Mexican national team star made his L.A.Galaxy debut in the 65th minute to a mild ovation, hoping to spark their offense.
Lozano showed bursts of speed and a willingness to take on defenders, sliding into gaps to open passing lanes. He picked up a yellow card shortly after coming on while pressing aggressively to win the ball back.
“He was battling,” Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said of Lozano. “He was getting in on them. I don’t feel like all of those were fouls. I think he was just, he was competing. And he was getting in.
“I felt like he was looking for, trying to find ways to take responsibility in certain plays, to try to make things happen. I feel like he came in to try to add to the game. And again, really tough conditions to play your first game in a lot of months.”
The Dynamo defense kept Chucky Lozano and his teammates off the scoresheet. The Galaxy defense couldn’t do the same against Guilherme.
