With questions surrounding the Houston Texans’ receiving corps, the team has a critical offseason ahead. With the NFL Draft on April 24 and Nick Caley now at the helm as offensive coordinator, the AFC South champions must evaluate the roster and explore potential trades that will help..
The Texans have been plagued with injuries at the wide receiver position. Stefon Diggs tore an ACL in Week 8 of the regular season. Second-year receiver Tank Dell suffered a gruesome late-season knee ending injury which will sideline him through the 2025 season.
Texans could be fit for Xavier Restrepo
If the Texans don’t re-sign Diggs this offseason, they could draft a wide receiver or trade for one. Even if general manager Nick Caserio decides to bolster the offensive line in the first round, they could still address the receiving corps to give quarterback C.J. Stroud another weapon with the 58th pick in the second round.
The Texans struggled to get production from the slot after Diggs’ injury. University of Miami star Xavier Restrepo could be the answer. The 5-foot-10, 198-pounder is projected to go in the middle to late second round. He is creating a buzz after being considered one of the top slot receivers in this year’s draft.

The fifth-year senior ended his final season with 69 receptions for 1,127 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He broke records in Miami once held by Santana Moss and Mike Harley for most all-time catches and receiving yards, respectively.
Despite his size, Restrepo’s ability to improvise plays downfield makes him a quarterback-friendly target and a key contributor to offenses. The standout receiver is also known for creating separation (52.7% contested) and his ability to secure catches (2.8% drop rate).
The Coconut Creek, Fla., native impressed at the Senior Bowl. Caserio and Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans surely took notice. With impressive results at the Senior Bowl and a standout NFL combine, Restrepo’s draft stock could soar higher.
