Fred Warner lands 3-year, $63 million extension from 49ers
Fred Warner’s deal has $56.7 million guaranteed
From a former third round pick to an elite linebacker, Fred Warner, the Mexican Panamanian American star became the highest paid linebacker in the NFL.
Since entering the NFL in 2018, the four-time First Team All-Pro has been a dominant force in the league. Now Federico “Fred” Warner is being paid like one of the greatest of all time.
With two years left on Warner’s contract, the 49ers gave him a three-year extension.
Warner agreed to a three-year, $63 million extension that includes $56.7 million guaranteed, according to multiple sources. He had two years remaining on the $95 million extension he signed in 2021.
The extension is a testament to Warner’s impact on the 49ers’ defense.
Team leader
He has 897 tackles (569 solo), 10 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, 10 interceptions, and two touchdowns since he was drafted in 2018. Warner has two Super Bowl appearances in which he had 14 tackles and one interception.
Warner, 28, has also been a durable workhorse. He has missed only one game in his NFL career.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder’s leadership, athleticism and intelligence have helped transform the 49ers’ defense. Although the 49ers won only six games last season, Warner was a standout. He contributed 131 tackles (76 solo), one sack, four forced fumbles, two interceptions and a touchdown.
“It speaks very highly and it speaks very well of the sort of player, and the sort of leader Fred Warner has been for this team,” NFL insider Jonathan Jones said. “I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see him at this level of play, at this trajectory, potentially get another deal two and a half, three years down the road, be it with the 49ers or somewhere else. He is on a Hall of Fame trajectory.”
Warner’s remarkable climb throughout his career is a result of an unmatched work ethic and determination. His journey is a source of pride and inspiration for the Latino community.
Moreover, Warner proudly represents his Latino roots.
“Being able to represent the Latino community, it means a lot to me,” Warner said to the “Career in Looks” series. “If I can inspire even just one kid to look at me and be like, ‘I know I can do it if Fred can do it,’ I know I’m making an impact.”
