Duke’s Aminah Vega earns third All-ACC First Team honor

Aminah Vega, Kat Rodriguez among five Latinas on All-ACC team

Led by three-time All-ACC First Team selection Aminah Vega and NCAA RBI leader Kat Rodriguez of North Carolina, five Latinas were named to the All-ACC Softball First Team on Wednesday. Clemson’s Macey Cintron was also named the ACC Freshman of the Year.

Aminah Vega, a junior second baseman, earned All-ACC First Team honors for the third consecutive year. She is hitting .445 with 11 home runs and 17 doubles entering the ACC Tournament.

Vega leads the Blue Devils in batting average, doubles, hits (77) and total bases (129). The All-American was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year last season, but that award went to her teammate Thessa Malau’ulu this year.

Nonetheless, Vega is one of the most complete superstars in college baseball. She is one of the best defensive second baseball in the NCAA. Vega is also among the leaders in multiple offensive categories in college baseball.

Aminah Vega does it all

Vega and Rodriguez are tied for the ninth most hits in college baseball. She’s also tied for 15th in the nation in doubles.

Late last month, Aminah Vega and Florida State shortstop Isa Torres were the only two Latinas named among the 25 finalists for the 2025 USA Softball College Player of the Year award.

Rodriguez, who leads the NCAA in runs batted in, enters the ACC Tournament with a school single-season record 83 RBIs. Rodriguez spent her first four seasons at Quinnipiac (2020) and Pitt (2021-2024) before transferring to North Carolina.
